Agricultural law covers everything related to farming. Agricultural attorneys will be well-versed in handling various aspects of the farming industry. This video will explain what agricultural law and attorneys are in more depth.
Agricultural law is also known as Ag Law. It covers everything from food, farming, land rights, water rights, pesticide use, fertilizer, and more. It deals with cases related to insurance coverage, infrastructure, marketing, and labor. Some ag law falls under the category of environmentalist law which deals with forests, fisheries, and more.
The National Agricultural Law Center, or NALC, is the only concentrated resource on agricultural law in the US. It is funded by the federal government, or your tax dollars, and provides information and services to help ag law attorneys do their job as best as they can.
An example of an ag law case is the recall of peanut butter by the federal government in 2009. Salmonella was present in peanut butter containers and making consumers sick. Ag law attorneys helped figure out how the producers were responsible. They also helped figure out a plan to make sure it didn’t happen again.
